Review of Linux Compatibility

The TV TeVii S471 is a low profile PCI-Express card with DVB-S2 tuner. The card has the PCI ID d471:9022 and is identified in the following way:

02:00.0 Multimedia video controller: Conexant Systems, Inc. CX23885 PCI Video and Audio Decoder (rev 04)

The card is supported since Linux kernel version 3.5 by the module cx23885 which loads automatically:

cx23885[0]: cx23885 based dvb card
cx23885 driver version 0.0.3 loaded
cx23885 0000:05:00.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 48 (level, low) -> IRQ 48
CORE cx23885[0]: subsystem: d471:9022, board: TeVii S471 [card=35,autodetected]
cx23885_dvb_register() allocating 1 frontend(s)
cx23885[0]: cx23885 based dvb card
DVB: registering new adapter (cx23885[0])
cx23885_dev_checkrevision() Hardware revision = 0xb0
cx23885[0]/0: found at 0000:05:00.0, rev: 2, irq: 48, latency: 0, mmio: 0xfe400000
cx23885 0000:05:00.0: setting latency timer to 64

Alternatively, the driver can be compiled from the S2-Liplianin source code. The source code can be downloaded in the following way:

hg clone http://pikacode.com/liplianin/s2-liplianin-v35

The driver can be compiled and installed in the newly created folder by

make
sudo make install

After a reboot of the system the driver is loaded automatically.
