Review of Linux Compatibility
The D-Link DWA-525 is a PCI card, which supports up to 160 Mbit/s connections according to 802.11n standard. The card exists in two versions:
Version 1: PCI-ID 1814:3060
The older version of the card bases on the Ralink RT3060 chipset and has the PCI-ID 1814:3060:
04:01.0 Network controller : Ralink corp. RT3060 Wireless 802.11n 1T/1R [1814:3060]
Subsystem: D-Link System Inc DWA-525 Wireless N 150 Desktop Adapter (rev.A1) [1186:3c04]
Kernel driver in use: rt2800pci
Version 2: PCI-ID 1814:5360
The newer version uses the Ralink RT5360 chipset and has a different PCI-ID (1814:5360)
04:06.0 Network controller : Ralink corp. Device [1814:5360]
Both versions of the card are fully supported by the kernel module rt2800pci, which is part of the standard kernel at least since Linux kernel version 3.1.10, e.g. the card is automatically supported by Ubuntu 13.04.
