The TP-Link TL-WN861N is a Mini PCI adapter to enable a laptop with 300Mbps WiFi support. The adapter exists in two different revisionen:
TP-LINK TL-WN861N v1
The version v1 can be recognized by the inprint “MODEL:11N MINI PCI” and “REV:1.0SP1″ on the adapter. This version has the PCI ID 168c:0023 and basies on the Atheros AR5008-2NG chipset.
TP-LINK TL-WN861N v2
The version v2 can be recognized by the inprint “2052500240 Rev:2.0″. This version has the PCI ID 168c:0029 and uses the Atheros AR9223 chip.
Both versions of the card are fully supported by the Linux kernel module ath9k.
