Review of Linux Compatibility

The Microsoft LifeCam VX-800 is a USB webcam with a maximum resolution of 640×480 pixels. The wecam has the USB ID 045e:0766:

Bus 001 Device 002: ID 045e:0766 Microsoft Corp.

The webcam is supported in Linux by the Linux UVC driver (e.g. since Ubuntu 10.10), even if it is not listed as supported device on the web page.

After plugging in the VX-800 it is recognized by the Kernel automatcally and initialized by the uvcvideo kernel module:
