Review of Linux Compatibility

The Longshine LCS-PS112 is a printserver that is equipped with 2 USB ports and one parallel port (Centronix).

A printer connected to the parallel port can be accessed with the LPD protocol at the following address


The last number corresponds to the port number of the printserver, i.e., a number from 1 to 3 for the parallel Port and the 2 USB ports.

The factory default of the printserver is the IP If the LAN is in a different subnet, it is recommended to change one PC to the same subnet as the print server (i.e., to access the printserver at and change its IP address via a web browser.

After connecting the printer to the printserver the configuration of the the printer can be performed in Ubuntu 10.04 in the menu “System > System Settings > Printing > New > Network printer > LPD/LPR Host”.

After entering the IP address of the printserver and selecting “lp1″ as queue the corresponding printer model has to be selected.
