Review of Linux Compatibility

The D-Link DWA-130 is a USB WiFi stick for IEEE 802.11n connections. The stick is available in different versions:

Revision C1 – USB ID 2001:3301

The version of the DWA-130 uses the Realtek RTL8192U chipset and has the USB ID 2001:3301

Bus 002 Device 004: ID 2001:3301 D-Link Corp. DWA-130 802.11n Wireless N Adapter(rev.C1) [Realtek RTL8192U]

This version of the stick should be supported by the r8192u_usb kernel driver. A firmware file for this stick is available at
ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Wireless/dwa130_revC/Drivers/dwa130_revC_drivers_linux_006.zip.

Revision C2 – USB ID 2001:3302

This version of the DWA-130 is automatically supported by the rtl8192su driver of the Linux kernel.

Revision D – USB ID 07d1:3a0f

This version of the DWA-130 uses an Atheros AR9001U-2NG chipset. This chipset is not automatically supported by the ar9170usb kernel driver.

Revision E – USB ID 07d1:3300

The version of the D-Link DWA-130 bases on the Realtek RTL8191SU chipset and has the USB ID 07d1:3300

It is automatically recognized and fully supported by the Linux r8712u kernel driver:
