Review of Linux Compatibility

The Genesys Logic, Inc. USB 2.0 Hub is an external cheap USB 2.0 hub. It has a mini-USB to PC connection, 4 regular USB sockets and a blue LED. It sometimes misbehaves under Linux after resume from suspend, and any mice and drives plugged into it become inaccessible. Reboot always fixes it, but unplugging for a while then replugging in doesn’t usually fix it. Plugging the devices back into a different USB port to use them sometimes works but not reliably.
The Hub has the USB ID 05e3:0605

Bus 001 Device 002: ID 05e3:0605 Genesys Logic, Inc. USB 2.0 Hub

It is automatically recognized by the Linux kernel:

usb 1-1: New USB device found, idVendor=05e3, idProduct=0605
usb 1-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=0, Product=1, SerialNumber=0
usb 1-1: Product: USB2.0 Hub
