Review of Linux Compatibility

The Evoluent Vertical Mouse 4 is an ”upright” mouse (VML4 for left handed, VMR4 for right handed) and is used for reducing RSI strain.
All main buttons work fine, including sensitivity via specific buttons on mouse (doesn’t require PC configure/interaction for that).

Changing actions for other buttons requires technical knowhow and editing configuration files manually. Browsers support back/forwards buttons of the mouse, but until now not any other application was discovered that have a use for these buttons yet (without manually configuring them to do some other key/button combination).

The Evoluent Vertical Mouse has the USB ID 1a7c:0192 or 1a7c:0191

Bus 004 Device 003: ID 1a7c:0191 Evoluent VerticalMouse 4
Bus 003 Device 002: ID 1a7c:0192 Evoluent

and is automatically recognized by the Linux kernel:

usb 3-1: new full-speed USB device number 2 using ohci-pci
usb 3-1: New USB device found, idVendor=1a7c, idProduct=0192
usb 3-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0
usb 3-1: Product: Evoluent VerticalMouse 4 Left
usb 3-1: Manufacturer: Kingsis Peripherals
