One response to “Microsoft Comfort Mouse 4500 (Mouse, USB, Wired)”

  • John Paterson says:

The Comfort mouse 4500 works (in my case under Linux Mint 17.2, Mint 17.1 Raspian and Windows 7-64), is reasonably comfortable, seemingly well made, but I would recommend to NOT buy one.

The side buttons are poorly placed and can far too easily cause unintended changes of location, or other actions, in a program. But far worse is the scroll wheel. It has no detents (so it will happily spin a long way) and is vastly too sensitive as well. So it is both exceedingly difficult to scroll down a little bit, and very easy to scroll a lot, and so find yourself at the bottom or top of things like web pages.

Many complaints on the web indicate that it is almost impossible to use with games, even under Microsoft operating systems.

I gave up on the one I bought as a waste of money.
