Review of Linux Compatibility

The Asrock FATAL1TY H97 Performance is an ATX mainboard with support for AMD Quad CrossFireX and CrossFireX Technology. It has 6x SATA3 Ports and support RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10. Following connections are available:

  • 6x USB 3.0 Ports (4 rear, 2 via header)
  • 8x USB 2.0 Ports (3 rear, 4 via headers, 1 Fatal1ty Mouse Port)
  • 1x PS/2 Keyboard/Mouse Port
  • 1x VGA Port
  • 1x DVI-D Port
  • 1x HDMI Port
  • 1x Optical SPDIF Out
  • 1x RJ45 LAN Port
  • Audio I/O Jacks

The mainboard was successfully tested with Ubuntu 14.04 and Linux 3.13. The board is supported by Linux very good, but has audio problems if a kernel older than 3.15 is used.

Network

The on-board Gigabit Ethernet is automatically and fully supported by the e1000e kernel driver:

 e1000e: Intel(R) PRO/1000 Network Driver - 2.3.2-k
e1000e: Copyright(c) 1999 - 2013 Intel Corporation.
e1000e 0000:00:19.0: Interrupt Throttling Rate (ints/sec) set to dynamic conservative mode
e1000e 0000:00:19.0: irq 43 for MSI/MSI-X
e1000e 0000:00:19.0 eth0: registered PHC clock
e1000e 0000:00:19.0 eth0: (PCI Express:2.5GT/s:Width x1) 00:11:22:33:44:55
e1000e 0000:00:19.0 eth0: Intel(R) PRO/1000 Network Connection
e1000e 0000:00:19.0 eth0: MAC: 11, PHY: 12, PBA No: FFFFFF-0FF

Sound

If the sound is broken, it is necessary to modify the modprobe.d file by adding kernel options to the snd-hda-intel driver with the following command:

echo "options snd-hda-intel vid=8086 pid=8ca0 snoop=0" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/fix-sound-intel97.conf
