Review of Linux Compatibility

The ASUS Xtion is a 3D motion scanner, which digitizes objects and their movement. The sensor is connected via USB to the PC and has the USB ID 1d27:0601

Bus 001 Device 007: ID 1d27:0601 ASUS

It is recognized by Linux with the following log output:

usb 1-1.2.1: new high-speed USB device number 45 using ehci-pci

usb_audio: [3] FU [Mic Capture Volume] ch = 1, val = 0/12544/3

The usage of the Asus Xtion is still quite experimental and is often used for test and research work. Until now, no Linux game is using this camera.

Linux libraries and programs for capturing data with the camera are developed at OpenNI. The code can be downloaded from the corresponding Github repository:

git clone https://github.com/occipital/OpenNI2.git
cd OpenNI2 && make -j4
