Review of Linux Compatibility

The wireless Logitech keyboard and mouse combo MK270 is fully supported under Linux. Keyboard and mouse are connected by using the Logitech Unifying Receiver (USB), which is automatically recognized by the kernel:

usb 2-1.3: new full-speed USB device number 5 using ehci_hcd
usb 2-1.3: New USB device found, idVendor=046d, idProduct=c52b

In order to get additional information from the keyboard and mouse (e.g. the status of the used batteries) it is recommended to use the program Solaar. This program is until now not part of the Ubuntu distribution, but can be installed from its own repository Repository via the package management system:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:daniel.pavel/solaar
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install solaar

Alternatively, the source code of the program can be downloaded from its Git repository: https://github.com/pwr/Solaar.

Additionally, the program ltunify wxists, which allows to manage several devices which are connected to the same Logitech Unified Receiver.
