Review of Linux Compatibility
The Brother DS-720D is a compact DIN A4 document scanner, which is ideal for mobile operation due to its small dimensions. The scanner can be connected via USB and is fully supported under Linux. Linux drivers are provided by Brother at for download as DEB and as RPM files.
For scanning, one needs Sane installed on the Linux system, which can be achieved under Ubuntu by:
sudo apt-get install sane-utils xsane xsane-common
Afterwards scanning with the DS-720D is possible with xsane or with the simplescan program.
