The Creative Sound Blaster Audigy FX (model ID SB1570) is a PCI Express Sound card which bases on the Realtek ALC898 chipset. The card is automatically recognized under Linux

  • Rage says:

TL:DR: It may show up but it initially tries deafening static… which you start to miss once you get it to work once then it never makes a noise again.

The first boot it made loud static.
After a lot of searching I found this and tried it:

This lead to sound! Hooray, set everything up nicely… come back the next day and no sound. Try rebooting and other options… eventually get sound again.
Next day, no sound even after much fiddling.

Gave up, I will be returning the card.

    Ubuntu 14.04.
