The HP LaserJet Pro 400 M401n is a monochrome laser printer. The laser printer is fully supported under Linux by the HP Linux Imaging and Printing driver since driver version 3.12.6. The driver supports Ubuntu since 10.04, Debian since 6.0 and SuSE Linux since 12.02.
Under Ubuntu hplip can be installed by the command
sudo apt-get install hplip
If one additionally wants to install the graphical user interface of the driver, one needs to install the package hplip-gui:
sudo apt-get install hplip-gui
