Review of Linux Compatibility
The Avermedia C029 DVD EZMaker 7 is a analog video capture device for USB. It bases on the Conexant CX23102 chipset and has the USB ID 07ca:c039:
Bus 001 Device 012: ID 07ca:c039 AVerMedia Technologies, Inc.
A Linux driver is provided by Avermedia for download. However, even if this driver is installed it was so far not possible to use the device, since it does not create a /dev/video device. Even though the kernel logs look promising:
usb 1-2: new high-speed USB device number 5 using ehci_hcd Linux video capture interface: v2.00 cx231xx v1.0.28 driver loaded. ifnum = 0. return 0 ifnum = 1. return 0 ifnum = 2. skip interface return ENODEV ifnum = 3. skip interface return ENODEV ifnum = 4. skip interface return ENODEV ifnum = 5. skip interface return ENODEV cx25840 5-0044: cx23102 A/V decoder found @ 0x88 (cx231xx #0) cx25840 5-0044: Firmware download size changed to 16 bytes max length cx25840 5-0044: loaded v4l-cx231xx-avcore-01.fw firmware (16382 bytes) usbcore: registered new interface driver cx231xx cx231xx: Cx231xx Audio Extension initialized
the device is currently not usable under Linux.
