Review of Linux Compatibility

The Logitech MK550 is a combination of a wireless keyboard and a wireless mouse. Both components are automatically recognized by the Linux kernel. The following special keys are automatically configured (since Ubuntu 11.10):

  • Calculator
  • Volume up/down
  • Previous/next track
  • Stop
  • Pause/Play
  • Mute
  • Power (sets the PC into hybernation mode)
  • FN+F7 starts the web browser
  • FN+F9 starts the email program
  • FN+F10 opens Nautilus
  • FN+F12 opens the CDROM drive (eject)

The following special keys are not configured automatically:

  • Fn key + blue special keys (except for Fn + F10)
  • Media Centre
  • Media Player
  • Zoom in/out
  • Switch programs

The “Pictures Folder” key works, but starts the music program.

The program KeyTouch Editor can be used to activate the zoom keys of the keyboard. This program can be used to configure special functions (e.g. scroll up/down) to be executed by the zoom keys.
