Asus F55A-SX091D (Notebook, 15,6 Inch, Intel Pentium B980, 2,4GHz, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, Intel HD, DVD)
Review of Linux Compatibility
The Asus F55A is a 15.6 inch notebook, which can be bought without pre-installed Windows and therefore can save license costs if one wants to use Linux on the Laptop anyway.
The F55A is fully and automatically supported under Linux. However, an up-to-date Linux distribution should be used (e.g. Linux Mint 15 or late), because older Linux distributions (e.g., Linux Mint 14) do not support the Ethernet network card.
To install Linux on the Laptop the boot order has to be configured in the Bios. It is necessary to have the USB stick connected while this configuration is carried out, otherwise the option to configure USB as first source in the boot order is not visible in the BIOS.
