Review of Linux Compatibility
The Tenda W322U is a USB WiFi stick, which is available in at least three different versions:
V1 – 148f:3072
The version V1 bases on the Ralink RT3072 chipset and has the USB ID 148f:3072
Bus 003 Device 009: ID 148f:3072 Ralink Technology, Corp. RT3072 Wireless Adapter
This version of the Tenda W322U is supported under Linux by the kernel module rt28000usb.
V2 – 148f:2870
The version V2 has the USB ID 148f:2870:
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 148f:2870 Ralink Technology, Corp.
and is supported by the kernel module rt2870sta. It might be necessary to blacklist the module rt2800usb to subpress its loading, which can interfere with the rt2870sta module.
V3 – 148f:5370
The third version bases on the Ralink RT5370 chipset and has the USB ID 148f:5370
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 148f:5370 Ralink Technology, Corp.
The stick uses the kernel module rt2800usb as driver and is automatically recognized since Ubuntu 12.10 but needs the manual installation of a driver in older Ubuntu versions.
