Review of Linux Compatibility

The Logitech BCC950 is a HD webcam for conferences. It is UVC compatible and although not listed on the uvcvideo driver website it is supported under Linux. If plugged in the device appears with with three USB ID simultaneously due to the internally used USB hub:

Bus 001 Device 009: ID 046d:0839 Logitech, Inc.
Bus 001 Device 010: ID 046d:0837 Logitech, Inc.
Bus 001 Device 011: ID 046d:0838 Logitech, Inc.

and gets automatically initialized by the Linux kernel and the uvcvideo kernel module:

The video stream works out of the box. However, the initialization of the audio source of the BCC950 can fail due to an regression error in the Linux kernel.

Although the sound works under Linux Mint 13 or Linux Mint 15 MATE it does not work any longer under Linux Mint 15 x64 Cinnamon or the latest version of Ubuntu (see bug report). In this case the following error message is shown:

4:2:1: cannot get freq at ep 0x1

accompanied with a crash of gnome-control.
