Review of Linux Compatibility
The Brother HL-5240 is a high-speed monochrome laser printer. It is fully supported under Linux and can be used with the printer drivers provided by Brother.
The printer driver can be downloaded from the Brother homepage in RPM, Deb and as PPD file. In order to use this driver CUPS has to be installed on the Linux system, e.g., under Ubuntu by the command
sudo apt-get install cups csh
