Review of Linux Compatibility

The ATI Radeon X800 is a (not fully state-of-the-art) high-end graphic card with 256MB GDDR3 RAM and DVI-, VGA-, as well as S-Video output. The card can control multiple monitors. The X800 GTO is fully supported under Linux, if the necessary driver was installed.

Idenitifcation under Linux:

VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] R480 [Radeon X800 GTO]

The card is fully supported by the radeon driver. 3D acceleration via OpenGL 2.1 is possible.

Most distributions (e.g., Ubuntu, Debian, openSUSE) already include the driver as part of their standard installation. For Some other distributions (e.g., ArchLinux) the driver has to be installed additionally: xf86-video-ati or xserver-xorg-video-ati. automatically recognized the card and loads the driver.
