The D-link DCS-942L is a IP camera and is controlled via its integrated web frontend. The video stream is available per network (the camera can be accessed per WiFi and Ethernet) and uses the rtsp protocol (rtsp://192.168.xxx.xxx/play1.sdp). Therefore, the stream can be read out and processed via tools like ffmpeg or VLC.
The DCS-942L is shipped with a set-up software which is only compatible with Windows. After performing the set-up of the IP cam (under windows) the camera can be controlled independent of operating systems in a web browser.
The camera provides a night vision modus as special features. 5 infra-red LEDs allow filming even at darkness.
