Review of Linux Compatibility
The D-Link DCS-930L is a surveillance camera with Ethernet connection and WiFi support. The camera streams pictures and videos in a resolutions of 640 x 480 pixel. After configuring the IP address of the camera the video stream can be accessed under the address
The IP camera is also available in a slightly different version DCS-932L which is equipped with four infrared LEDs of 5 meter range and allows recording at darkness.
The DCS-930L is shipped with a set-up software which is only compatible with Windows. After performing the set-up of the IP cam (under windows) the camera can be controlled independent of operating systems in a web browser.
Under Linux the Open-Source Software ZoneMinder can be used together with the Axis camera: which can be installed in Ubuntu via the package management system:
sudo apt-get install zoneminder
There even is a MythTV plugin (MythZoneMinder), which allows access to the video stream from the TV:
