Review of Linux Compatibility

The Axis M1054 is a surveillance camera intended for indoor usage with Ethernet connection and Power-over-Ethernet support. The camera streams pictures and videos in a resolutions of 1280 x 800 pixel. After configuring the IP address of the camera the video stream can be accessed under the address

http://<CAM IP/HOSTNAME>:<CAM PORT>/axis-cgi/mjpg/video.cgi

Under Linux the Open-Source Software ZoneMinder can be used together with the Axis camera: which can be installed in Ubuntu via the package management system:

sudo apt-get install zoneminder

There even is a MythTV plugin (MythZoneMinder), which allows access to the video stream from the TV:
. This plugin can be installed in Debian based distributions by:

A detailed article explaining the installation and usage of ZoneMinder can be found at http://www.tuxradar.com/content/build-your-own-surveillance-zoneminder.
