Review of Linux Compatibility

The Kyocera FS-1370DN is laser printer with duplex printing capability. The printer can be accessed via USB or Ethernet. It has the USB ID 0482:0409

Bus 001 Device 006: ID 0482:0409 Kyocera Corp.

and is supported under Linux (e.g. since Ubuntu 11.04) by CUPS.

As speciality, the printer supports the protocol “IPP over SSL”, i.e. data can be sent to the printer encrypted over the local network. To use the encryption, one has to use the following URL for the printer driver:


Additionally, one has to activate the option “IPP over SSL” in the printer. This option can be found in the web GUI of the FS-1370DN. It is hidden under the following menu structure

Basic -> Device Security -> Network Security -> IPP over SSL -> Unblock

and by setting

Advanced -> Secure Protocols -> SSL -> On
