Longshine LCS 6319o (PCIe, 1x Parallel Port)
Review of Linux Compatibility
The PCI-Express card Longshine LCS 6319o (and not 63190, how often written) extends the PC by one parallel port. The card has the PCI ID 1415:c000
30:00.0 Parallel controller : Oxford Semiconductor Ltd Device [1415:c000] Subsystem: Oxford Semiconductor Ltd Device [1415:c000] Kernel driver in use: parport_pc
and is automatically recognized by Linux and fully supported:
parport_pc 0000:02:00.0: PCI INT A -> Link[LN0A] -> GSI 19 (level, low) -> IRQ 19 PCI parallel port detected: 1415:c000, I/O at 0xdc00(0xd880), IRQ 19 parport0: PC-style at 0xdc00 (0xd880), irq 19, using FIFO [PCSPP,TRISTATE,COMPAT,EPP,ECP] lp: driver loaded but no devices found lp0: using parport0 (interrupt-driven).
To access the card the kernel module parport.o is used. If this modul is loaded without any additional options, it uses the I/O port 0×378 as default value for the parallel port. The chosen I/O port can be seen at /proc/ioports by the command
If a different I/O port shall be used, the corresponding options have to be set while loading the kernel module, e.g.:
modprobe parport io=0xc800
This Option can be stored in the file /etc/modprobe.d/options, in order to have it respected at each new system restart automatically, e.g. by adding:
options parport_pc io=0xc800 irq=7
