The D-Link DWA-556 is a PCI Express card with the PCI ID 168C:0024:
03:00.0 Network controller: Qualcomm Atheros AR5418 Wireless Network Adapter [AR5008E 802.11(a)bgn] (PCI-Express) (rev ff)
and bases on the Atheros AR5008E-3NG chipset. The card is fully supported under Linux by the kernel module ath9k.
A regression bug exissts in the kernel version 3.3.1 that prevented the successful loading of the kernel module. This bug was fixed again in the kernel version 3.3.2.
