Review of Linux Compatibility

The Intel Ultimate N WiFi Link 6300 (chipset: Intel Centrino Advanced N 6300, model number: 633AN.HMWWB) is a WiFi card for the PCI Express Mini Card slot

The card has the PCI ID 8086:0091

01:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Intel Corporation Centrino Advanced-N 6230 [8086:0091] (rev 34)

and is fully supported by the Linux kernel since version 2.6.30 thanks to the kernel module iwlwifi:

03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Centrino Advanced-N 6230 (rev 34)
Subsystem: Intel Corporation Centrino Advanced-N 6230 AGN
Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx-
	Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=fast >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- INTx-
Latency: 0, Cache Line Size: 64 bytes
Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 49
	Region 0: Memory at f1b00000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=8K]
	Capabilities: <access denied>
	Kernel driver in use: iwlwifi

The firmware file iwlwifi-6000g2b-4.ucode has to be available at the directory /lib/firmware in order to use the kernel module. This firmware file shoud normally be shipped together with the Linux kernel. If the firmware file is missing, the initialization of the WiFi card fails with the following error message:
