The Microsoft LifeCam VX-5000 is a USB webcam with a resolution of 640×480 pixel (i.e., 1,3 megapixel) and has the USB ID 045e:0728:

The camera is fully supported by Linux (e.g. since Ubuntu 10.04) thanks to the UVC drivers. The kernel module uvcvideo is automatically loaded during system start-up:
