Review of Linux Compatibility

The Microsoft LifeCam Cinema has the USB ID 045e:075d

Bus 001 Device 009: ID 045e:075d Microsoft Corp.

and is fully supported under Linux (e.g. since Ubuntu 9.10) by the UVC driver. The needed kernel module uvcvideo gets loaded automatically:

The LifeCam Cinema is compatibel to Skype and can also be used with other programs like Cheese or Guvcview. Guvcview can be installed in Debian based distributions by

sudo apt-get install guvcview
