Samsung Unified Driver

The All-in-One printer uses the “Unified Driver”. This driver can be downloaded fro the model SCX-4726FN from the following address:
For the installation of the “Samsung Unified Linux Driver” it is necessary that the programs CUPS, SANE, and GhostScript are also installed.

Alternatively, a repository of the Samsung Unified Driver von can be used. This has the advantage that drivers will be updated automatically by the apt-get system.

First, the file /etc/apt/sources.list has to be changed

sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list

and the following line has to be added to use the new repository:

deb debian extra

Furthermore, the GPG key has to be added to the Apt system, to verify the downloaded files. After download of the key:

sudo wget

it has to be added to the Apt system:

sudo apt-key add suldr.gpg

The APT database has to be updated to allow installation of the new packages:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install samsungmfp-data samsungmfp-driver samsungmfp-network samsungmfp-scanner samsungmfp-configurator-data samsungmfp-configurator-qt4 libsane-extras

As soon as the Samsung Unified Driver is installed the scanner can be accessed. In order that the systems identifies the scanner the following command is necessary

scanimage -L

Afterwards the programs like Simple Scan can be used to scan with Linux.
