The camera works fine, but how I can use the microphone at default input for sound?

    • linuxprism says:

This depends mainly on what you want to do in detail and how your configuration looks like. E.g. if you use pulse audio and want to set the microphone input as default, you can do this by setting the option “set-default-source” in your ~/.pulse/default.pa configuration file. See http://askubuntu.com/questions/31206/how-can-my-audio-input-always-be-the-webcam-microphone

With Alsa you can also use the very useful amixer program with a command like

amixer cset name='Input Source',index=0 'Mic XYZ'

(You first have to identify and adapt the name of the source)
If you add this command to your /etc/rc.local the audio settings will be used right after booting the system.

  • Works perfectly with debian wheezy and skype, just need to install the uvc drivers.
