Review of Linux Compatibility

The Technotrend TT-connect S2-4600 is a USB 2.0 tuner that supports DVB-S and DVB-S2 in HD. The box has a IEC60169-2 F socket for infeeding the satellite signal.

The USB-Tuner is supported by Linux, but the needed drivers are normally not included in the distribution. They have to be installed manually. Thanks to Technotrend a Linux driver is provided that can be used with kernel 2.6.x and 3.x.

The driver kann be downloaded from https://bitbucket.org/liplianin/s2-liplianin-v37. An additional firmware file is needed, which can be found at http://www.tt-downloads.de/Linux/s2-TT4600-linux-20120815.tgz.

The driver has to be installed. In Ubuntu, this step requires to install the Kernel sources. These can be installed via:

apt-get install linux-sources

After installation of the module the USB-Tuner is recognized and initialized by the kernel in the following way:

dvb-usb: found a 'TT Connect S2 4600' in warm state.
dvb-usb: will pass the complete MPEG2 transport stream to the software demuxer.
DVB: registering new adapter (TT Connect S2 4600)
 dvb-usb: MAC address: aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff
DVB: registering adapter 0 frontend 0 (Montage Technology DS3103/TS2022)...
input: IR-receiver inside an USB DVB receiver as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:04.1/usb2/2-2/input/input4
dvb-usb: schedule remote query interval to 150 msecs.
dvb-usb: TT Connect S2 4600 successfully initialized and connected.
ds3103_firmware_ondemand: Waiting for firmware upload (dvb-fe-ds3103.fw)...

This device works perfectly on linux,sd and hd channels ok
channel scan is a little slow(about 10 minutes for all hotbird channels)
The driver procedure is most simply with kernel 4.1(4.2 is recommended
because contain fixes for vdr) this because drivers are included on 4.1
Simply install the firmware dvb-demod-m88ds3103.fw and plug the card
    ,easy!
