Review of Linux Compatibility

The Logitech webcam C500 is equipped with a 1.3 megapixel sensor and is connected via USB 2.0. The webcam has the USB device ID 046d:0807

Bus 001 Device 003: ID 046d:0807 Logitech, Inc.

and is supported by Linux (at least since Ubuntu 9.10) vie the UVC drivers (kernel module uvcvideo). The C500 is recognoized automatically since this Linux version and is available as Video4Linux 2 (V4L2) device after initialization.

The kernel recognized the webcam and the integrated mikrophone in the following way:
