Cabstone SATA + IDE Controller (PCI)
Review of Linux Compatibility
The PCI card from Cabstone adds an additional SATA port to the Linux PC. The card bases on the VIA VT6421 chipset:
00:0b.0 RAID bus controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT6421 IDE RAID Controller (rev 50)
The PCI card provides one external SATA port (eSATA), two internal SATA ports (one at the long and one at the short side of the PCI card) and one IDE port (at the long side of the PCI card). However, it has to be chosen by jumpers (the card is equipped with 4 jumpers)if the eSATA or one internal SATA port will be activated, i.e. it is not possible to use eSATA and both internal SATA ports in parallel.
If all four jumpers are to 2+3, all internal SATA-Ports are activated and the eSATA port is deactivated. If the jumpers are in position 1+2 the eSATA port is activated instead of the internal SATA port wich is next to the eSATA port (long side of the PCI card).
The card was succesfully tested with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS – Linux version 2.6.32-34-generic
